What Is Low Testosterone, Really?

Low testosterone means your body isn't making enough to keep your energy, drive, focus, and muscle where they should be. The American Urological Association draws the line at 300 ng/dL. After 30, you lose about 1% a year — so this creeps in slowly, and most men blame everything but the actual cause.

Here's the part that gets missed: total testosterone can read "normal" while the testosterone your body can actually use — free testosterone — is on the floor. That's why two men with the same number can feel completely different. If you've been told you're "fine" but you don't feel fine, you were probably measured with the wrong ruler.

Always tired

Eight hours of sleep, still running on empty by mid-afternoon.

Foggy

Words don't come as fast. Focus slips. You re-read the same email.

Soft in the middle

Weight settles around the gut no matter what you do in the gym.

Low drive

Libido's down. Sometimes ED. Often the first thing your partner notices.

Flat mood

Shorter fuse, less motivation, a general "meh" you can't shake.

Losing strength

Muscle you worked for is harder to keep. Recovery takes longer.

Why "Normal" and Mail-Order TRT Both Fail You

Two things usually go wrong before a man finds us.

One — the rushed appointment. Someone glances at total testosterone, sees a number inside the lab's giant range, and sends you home. Nobody checks free testosterone or SHBG. You leave thinking it's in your head.

Two — the mail-order route. A video call with a nurse practitioner you'll never meet. Compounded testosterone at $150–250 a month, because insurance won't cover compound. No exam. Thin labs.

And testosterone raises your red blood cell count — so "set it and forget it" isn't a small thing.

You deserve a doctor who sees the whole picture and is in the room when it matters. That's why Revive exists.

How We Do It

Real Labs, a Real Exam, a Real Doctor

Three things every patient gets — none of which a video call can give you.

🧪

A 51-Biomarker Panel

Drawn in our clinic, results in about a day. We test calculated free testosterone, SHBG, estradiol, thyroid, blood count, metabolic and more — not the 4–7 markers telehealth runs. See the full panel →

🩺

An In-Person Exam

You sit across from a licensed doctor (an ND), every visit. We examine you, review your history, and build a plan around your labs and your goals — face to face.

💊

Your Local Pharmacy

We send FDA-approved generic testosterone to the pharmacy you already use — most men pay $0–30/month with insurance, not $150–250 for mail-order compound.

Then we tailor the protocol to you

Injections MOST CHOOSE THIS

Testosterone cypionate, weekly or every other week, at home after we train you in person. Steadiest levels, lowest cost, covered as a Tier 1 generic almost everywhere.

Topical gel

No needles. A daily application to the shoulders or arms. Good if you travel a lot or just hate injections — and generic gels are often covered too.

Estrogen & fertility support

Done right, TRT is more than testosterone. When your labs call for it, I add anastrozole to keep your estradiol in balance and HCG to protect your fertility and natural testicular function.

Not sure you want to start TRT?

If you're younger, planning to have kids, or just want to raise your own levels first, enclomiphene is a real alternative — it signals your body to make more testosterone on its own, without shutting down fertility. I'll tell you honestly whether it's a fit.

Revive vs. Telehealth TRT

We're not against telehealth for everything. For testosterone therapy, the differences matter.

Dr. Barry Wheeler, ND — Revive Low T Clinic, Kirkland
Who You'll See

Two Licensed Doctors Who've Done This Since 2013

I'm Dr. Barry Wheeler. My colleague Dr. Chris Merlino and I are licensed doctors here in Washington, and between us we've sat across from thousands of men having this exact conversation. We're not a call center. When you book, you see one of us — and our team handles your labs, your pharmacy, and your insurance paperwork so you don't have to.

The telehealth ads tell you to "consult a doctor." We are the doctor.

What Changes

What You'll Actually Notice

It's gradual, then it's obvious. Here's the honest timeline I give every patient — your mileage varies, but this is the shape of it.

Weeks 1–3

Better sleep and morning energy first. Mood lifts a little.

Weeks 4–6

Drive and focus come back. The gym starts feeling worth it again.

Months 3–4

Visible body changes — leaner, more muscle, less around the middle.

Month 6+

You feel like yourself again — and we've dialed the dose in with repeat labs.

Common Questions

What Men Ask Me Most

What are the signs of low testosterone?

The common signs are constant fatigue, low sex drive, ED, brain fog, weight gain, muscle loss, low mood, and poor sleep. After 30 you lose about 1% of your testosterone a year, so it sneaks up on you.

Most men chalk it up to age or stress. A blood test settles it. The AUA defines low T as total testosterone under 300 ng/dL — but I also test free testosterone and SHBG, because total alone misses men who are low where it counts. Take the 90-second quiz.

Is TRT covered by insurance?

Yes — testosterone medication is usually covered when a licensed doctor prescribes it for diagnosed low T. Most of our patients pay $0–30/month at a pharmacy like Costco, Walgreens, or CVS.

We prescribe FDA-approved generic testosterone cypionate, which sits on Tier 1 of most plans (Premera, Regence, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna). The mail-order compound that Hims and Roman use? Insurance calls it experimental and won't cover it. Check your coverage.

How much does TRT cost?

It starts with a free phone consult, and your first visit — which includes the exam and the 51-biomarker panel — is $99. From there a TRT plan runs $35/month (Standard) or $99/month (Essential), plus $0–30/month for medication with insurance. (Our $269 Complete plan bundles TRT, ED, and weight loss — that's not TRT alone.)

Even paying cash, generic testosterone is $30–50/month — still well under the $150–250 telehealth charges for compound. No hidden fees, no surprise bills. See all plans.

Done Safely

Why a Whole-Body Approach Lowers Your Risk

Testosterone touches everything — your blood count, your heart, your prostate, your estrogen. The risk was never TRT itself. It's TRT done without watching the rest.

That's why I run 51+ biomarkers and see you in person: I adjust anastrozole when your estradiol climbs, add HCG to protect your fertility, and check your hematocrit every visit. Treating the whole man — not one number — is how we keep your treatment effective and safe.

My guarantee: if your testosterone is normal, I'll tell you — and I won't put you on anything you don't need. No pressure, no upsell. You'll leave knowing exactly where you stand.

Stop Guessing. Get the Real Numbers.

It starts with a free phone consult — book it online in under a minute. Your first visit includes a sit-down with me or Dr. Merlino, a physical exam, and a free 51-biomarker panel ($400 value). No pressure, no commitment.

Switching from Hims, Roman, or another clinic? Bring your labs — we can usually continue same-day.

If you take one thing from this page: the number that matters most, free testosterone, is the one most clinics never run. We always do. That's usually the whole difference between "you're fine" and "no wonder you felt awful."
